Mental Health Awareness Week: Community

  • by

As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (12–18th May), particularly this year’s theme of community, at UKind we reflect on the importance of community within our work. The theme of community resonates deeply with those affected by domestic abuse, for whom it can be a source of critical support system as well as healing

Strong, supportive communities can encourage mental flourishing, and for survivors of domestic abuse, community isn’t just a concept—it’s a lifeline. Over 60% of survivors say the abuse impacted their ability to work or function day-to-day (Refuge, 2023). UKind offers the potential to break cycles of abuse and empower survivors to thrive, aiding in individual’s recovery and resilience in areas like work, parenting and everyday life. One user has said: “From silent suffering to powerful survivor — I reclaimed my life.”

The isolation, shame, and trauma stemming from domestic abuse can be overwhelming, but when survivors are embraced by understanding networks, they gain the strength to heal and rebuild. According to Mind (2023), over 50% of survivors do not access mental health services due to stigma, fear, or long waiting lists. At UKind, we strive to change this, to be a pillar of support and strength in a time effective manner.

Our immersive VR therapy and Survivor App offer a safe, accessible space for healing for all. Co-designed with survivors, we implement community within the design process to ensure it meets survivors’ real needs and goals, restoring dignity and purpose, providing immediate support whilst in waiting times for in-person therapy.

Join us in our journey alongside survivors to change lives through our groundbreaking technology. Find out more on our website here: Introducing the Survivor App | Innovative VR Therapy for Purpose-driven Healing | UKind

When we stand together, healing becomes possible.
