Today marks a big moment in my journey – the launch of my new website for UKind Therapy, a project born from a deep place of personal transformation and a commitment to help other survivors of abuse find their power, heal, and rewrite their stories.
For me, it isn’t just a launch; it’s a celebration of growth, resilience, and compassion for the person I used to be – a woman who once struggled to even look herself in the mirror.
As a survivor of domestic abuse, I spent years disconnected from my inner child, the part of me that wanted so badly to feel loved, safe, and worthy.
Facing that part of myself was one of the hardest steps in my healing journey.
I used to look at my reflection and feel an ache, a sense of loss for the child I once was.
Reaching a place of self-love and acceptance didn’t happen overnight; it took inner work, countless hours of reflection, and learning to truly love that part of me from the inside out.
In October at ‘The Speaking Out’ conference this year, I gave a talk, Survivor to Thriver, where I shared insights into my journey and discussed how past traumas can shape our adult relationships and sense of self-worth.
That talk was a defining moment, giving me the chance to voice everything I had uncovered through years of healing.
It also sparked the idea of using virtual reality (VR) as a tool for survivors to experience guided support, self-reflection, and healing in an innovative, immersive way.
UKind Therapy was born from this vision – a place where survivors can rediscover themselves, feel empowered to heal, and start seeing life through a new lens.
The VR therapy I’m developing is part of this mission.
It’s a safe space for people to confront difficult feelings, practice self-compassion, and reconnect with their true selves in ways that conventional therapy sometimes struggles to reach.
It’s been a challenging journey to get here, but one I’m immensely proud of.
Today, as I officially launch the UKind Therapy website, I’m not just sharing a resource for others; I’m celebrating how far I’ve come.
I look at my reflection now with pride, not pain, and I feel an incredible excitement for the future.
Every day, I live a life that’s rich with purpose, a life that’s no longer haunted by my past but inspired by it.
This is the life I once dreamed of, and it’s finally here – not just for me but for every survivor who finds their way to UKind Therapy.
If you’re on your own journey to healing, remember: it’s okay to go slowly, to feel every emotion along the way, and to learn to love that child inside you.
She deserves all the kindness in the world, and so do you.
And if UKind Therapy can be even a small part of your healing, then every step of this journey was worth it.
Take a look at our new website, explore what’s on offer, and let’s start this healing journey together.
